DEEP BIRTH PREP

READY TO PREP FOR BIRTH IN A WAY THAT WILL CHANGE HOW YOU HANDLE STRESS, CHALLENGES, AND THE UNKNOWN FOR LIFE?

DEEP BIRTH PREP is an immersive program that will guide you and your partner step-by-step in prepping for birth. You’ll learn to recenter yourselves in the process, build deep self-trust and confidence, and develop the skills to confidently navigate all the layers of your hospital birth for a deeply meaningful experience, no matter how it unfolds.

YOU WANT TO HAVE A BIRTH THAT’S YOURS.

YOU KNOW BIRTH ISN’T SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENS TO YOU. YOU WANT TO BE AT THE CENTER OF IT, AND YOU WANT IT TO BE SPECIAL. BUT HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR SOMETHING THAT’S AS UNPREDICTABLE AS BIRTH?

⚠️ Maybe you’re really anxious about the process and can’t stop thinking about what ifs

⚠️ Maybe you’ve experienced a challenging or traumatic birth before and worry about it happening again

⚠️ Maybe you’re scared your provider won’t listen to you or that you’ll be coerced into things you don’t want

⚠️ Maybe you’re overwhelmed with all the information out there and don’t know where to start

⚠️ Maybe you think you could have a good birth, but only if it all unfolds smoothly and exactly how you planned

YOU MIGHT EVEN HAVE REALLY LOW EXPECTATIONS FOR YOUR BIRTH. YOU JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF THERE WITHOUT BEING COMPLETELY TRAUMATIZED.

YOU ARE MEANT TO BE AT THE CENTER OF YOUR BIRTH.

AS A BIRTH DOULA, I SUPPORT BIRTHERS WHO ARE ANXIOUS ABOUT WHAT BIRTH MIGHT HOLD FOR THEM AND HOW THEY WILL HANDLE IT.

They worry about birth trauma, callous providers, medical coercion, emergencies, and coping with contractions. Before we work together, some aren’t even able to get excited about their pregnancies because of their previous experiences or birth anxiety.

It’s my goal for you, like them, to go confidently into your birth, knowing you can navigate anything, and I’ll guide you step-by-step through exactly how to prepare on every level.

“[Kate’s] a breath of fresh air, a wealth of knowledge and the coach you want if you’re hoping for a transformative birth that brings the physical act of delivering your child with a spiritual and healing experience together in a hospital setting.”

YOU’VE TRIED OTHER WAYS TO PREPARE.

🕘 You’ve spent hours scrolling on social media.

🙋‍♀️ You’ve taken birth classes.

💬 You’ve talked to your friends who have been through it before.

📕 You’ve loaded up on books and podcasts.

BUT YOU STILL FEEL OVERWHELMED AND ANXIOUS BECAUSE THOSE APPROACHES…

❌ Aren’t cohesive and comprehensive. You’re getting little bits here and there.

❌ Aren’t personalized. They’re not designed for you.

❌ Aren’t enough. A weekend class or a few podcasts won’t teach you all you need to know.

❌ Aren’t realistic. They aren’t always created by someone on the ground supporting hospital births who knows exactly what to expect.

THERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO PREPARE.

IN 12 WEEKS, YOU CAN GAIN DEEP INSIGHT INTO…

You & Your Partner

Dive deep into who you are and how you handle stress and challenges. Explore your partnership and how you support each other. Dig into your beliefs about birth, past experiences, and what’s most important to you. Examine your fears and relate to them in a different way.

WHEN YOU HAVE A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF ALL THREE LAYERS OF THE BIRTH EXPERIENCE AND HOW YOU WANT TO NAVIGATE THEM, YOU CAN BE FULLY PREPARED FOR YOUR BIRTH.

HI, I’M KATE GOODWIN.

I’VE BEEN EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE.

I learned a hard truth through my own birth experiences: information is not enough. You can know all of the things, but when you’re in the thick of birth, what you actually need are skills.

The skills to move through contractions. Communicate with your provider. Make decisions based on what’s most important to you. Beyond those are the even bigger life skills: coping with uncertainty, mental flexibility and resilience, getting comfortable with discomfort, and learning to listen to and trust yourself deeply.

In 2022, I trained as a full spectrum fertility, birth, and postpartum doula through Bebo Mia, and since then I’ve supported Atlanta birthers and their partners at all major metro area hospitals and the Atlanta Birth Center. I’m always learning more about how to better serve birthers and their families and have completed additional training with Evidence Based Birth, Spinning Babies, Dancy Perinatal, Dr. Rachel Reed, and Dr. Kirsten Small.

WITH THIS SUPPORT, YOU’LL GO CONFIDENTLY INTO BIRTH, PREPARED FOR A DEEPLY MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE.

DEEP BIRTH PREP WALKS YOU THROUGH EVERY LAYER OF BIRTH PREP SO YOU CAN BE CONFIDENT ON THE BIG DAY(S)!

…EVEN (ESPECIALLY!) IF YOU’RE INCREDIBLY ANXIOUS ABOUT BIRTH.

I made this program just for you! I know what it’s like to spiral, or try to overprepare for every scenario, or even to want to avoid thinking about prep all together because it’s just too much. I take you step-by-step through what you actually need to know to be able to handle anything!

…EVEN (ESPECIALLY!) IF YOU’VE HAD A BAD BIRTH EXPERIENCE BEFORE.

I have been there. Having a challenging or traumatic experience can make it hard to even think about getting pregnant again. But you did! You’re braver than you think, and to paraphrase the amazing Krysta Dancy, a perinatal therapist, this time will be different because you are different. You are already choosing to prepare totally differently. And here’s the thing: the specifics of how this birth unfolds will not make or break your experience because you will be prepared, seen, and supported no matter what, and that is the difference-maker.

…EVEN (ESPECIALLY!) IF YOUR BIRTH LOOKS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU IMAGINED.

Birth is unpredictable and unknowable before it unfolds. That’s what makes preparing for it so important! We go beyond just information to the actual skills that will help you handle whatever comes up on your journey in the way that feels best to you.

WHEREVER YOU ARE, YOU’RE IN THE PERFECT PLACE TO START PREPARING FOR THIS JOURNEY IN A RADICALLY DIFFERENT WAY.

CLIENTS COME TO ME OVERWHELMED, ANXIOUS, AND DISCOURAGED AND TRANSFORM INTO RESILIENT, CONFIDENT, AND EXCITED (GASP!) BIRTHERS.

Hiring Kate was the single smartest decision I made to prepare for the birth of my first baby. As an anxious and squeamish person, I was drawn to Kate for her warmth, honesty, her calm energy and her sense of humor. The preparation she offers touches on the practical as well as something equally critical and less tangible — the spiritual.

Choosing Kate… was the best choice I could have made for my VBAC! Through Kate’s guidance, I became so empowered and prepared for my birth— regardless of the outcome.

Kate is down to earth, her presence is grounding and nonjudgmental, and she stays up to date with the research in the field so we could all be well prepared.

FAQs

  • I recommend starting this program in your second trimester by about 22-24 weeks. That way you can complete one module a week and finish by about 34-36 weeks. However, if you’d like more time to practice the skills and/or are eager to get started, you can start the program as early as you would like and complete the modules at a slower pace.

Of course, you can start this program later in your pregnancy if you have time to complete multiple modules per week.

  • The program is designed to be completed over the course of 12 weeks by doing one module per week. However, you may move through the modules at your own pace. I would budget about 2-3 hours per week (if doing one module a week).

  • I'm going to be honest with you. The goal of this program is not for you to emerge with all the answers. It's designed to give you something much more valuable -- the skills you need to have a deeply meaningful birth experience and a deeply meaningful life, especially in times of change and uncertainty. The magic is in the process itself. You'll go step by step through the program with an experienced guide (me!) and learn more about yourself, your partner, birth, the hospital maternity care system, and more importantly, navigating the unknowns of life. In doing the work, you're developing and practicing the important skills you'll need. There's no test at the end (though there is a project that will help you apply everything you've learned during your birth); simply going through the experience is where the true value lies.

  • The cost of the program is a one-time payment of $997 or two payments of $575, totaling $1150.

  • The program consists of 12 modules, each with a video, workbook, and activities, plus 2 1:1 sessions with me and biweekly Voxer check ins. (In Voxer, you’ll send me a recorded message with your progress and questions, and I’ll listen and send you a message back with my thoughts and recommendations.)

  • Yes. There are two hour-long 1:1 sessions with me. We typically schedule one at the beginning of the program and one toward the end. We also have every other week Voxer check-ins to see how you're doing.

This personalized component of the program is incredibly important. You are not the "average birther." You have unique goals, priorities, fears, and ways of coping, and I look forward to hearing about all of it. My favorite part of birth work is getting to work with people one-on-one, and I knew that would be a huge part of my birth prep program.

  • Absolutely! It is designed to be done with your partner and will yield the best results that way! I want you to feel so supported by your partner during birth, and that works happens right now as you prepare together. Through this program, your partner will learn all my doula tips, tricks, and skills, so that they can take an active role in supporting you.

  • This is not a passive class -- it's an entire preparation program that you move through with your partner. Each week you'll watch a video lesson, complete written reflections, and practice specific activities designed to prepare you on every level. And you're not doing it alone! You'll receive my personalized support through our 1:1 sessions and Voxer chats to keep you on track and offer individualized recommendations.

  • Yes! You are exactly who I’ve designed this program for. I want you to know everything about the hospital system so you can feel super prepared.

  • This program is designed for birthers planning a hospital birth. There are some great home birth prep classes out there that will probably be a better fit for you.

  • This program is designed for birthers planning a vaginal hospital birth. While we do cover C sections, if you know you’re having one in advance, there are some great C section prep classes out there that will probably be a better fit for you.

  • Yes! I am a birth doula, and this program goes into significantly more depth than I’m able to with my in-person clients. What I've realized is that so much of my work with clients actually happens in the preparation stage, and the more work they do beforehand to get ready physically, mentally, and emotionally, the less there is to do in the actual labor room. So I decided to take everything I teach my clients now, plus everything I would want them to know if they were birthing without my in-person support, and put it all into this program.

While I think pretty much everyone would benefit from having an in-person doula at their birth, I know that not everyone is able to have that support and that not every doula is able to spend weeks preparing with you ahead of time. I designed this program to help you learn all the skills you need to navigate your hospital birth, whether or not you have in-person doula support.

  • I do not give refunds, but I do offer a free consultation with me so that you can get all your questions answered and determine if this program is the right fit for you before you purchase.
